Elgato Game Capture HD PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 Recorder for Mac and PC up to 1080P (10025010)
First off, let me say this device is fantastic. I love being able to record my 360 gameplay, and go back and takes bits of it to post to YouTube. If the other reviews haven't convinced you, then you're just stubborn.
However, when I try to upload something in 720p to YouTube, the quality decreases exponentially and I don't know why. Some games get a really choppy framerate and look god awful, and I'm not sure as to why. Plus a 19 second clip from GTA IV, took nearly 12 minutes to upload to YouTube. Does anyone else have this problem, or is it just my Internet? My Internet is fairly slow.
BUT REGARDLESS: PICK THIS THING UP. It's amazing.
I love this device. I can record high quality videos from my xbox 360 device. I also like that it comes with a component cord so I can use other devices. Setup is quick and easy and the user interface of the software is amazing. If you're serious about recording or just doing it casually, this is definitely the device to buy!
getting this product i was worried about a few things...
1. lag from my xbox to my monitor- absolutely no lag what so ever
2. figuring out how to use mic pass through to allow my voice to be recorded as i play. now there is lag on the computer as you are playing but i assume that is just the processing speed. but i just am using my mic for the game as well as the built in mic on my mac for recording. as i speak on my mac i was worried about the lag to my computer but the software adds my voice at the same delayed rate as my game play so literally everything comes out perfect.
3. i had no other capture card experience so i was worried about out the set up difficulty and was amazed by the eaze of set up and use of the software
it was hard looking for an hdmi capture card that worked on a 2.0 usb. but i found the el gato and couldn't be happier
the only thing negative i have to say about it is every time i record a segment it automatically records it under a default "pacman" folder and names each film "best game ever" i have to manually enter what game its for even if im not switching games. kind of a pain but ill live with it.
Amazing product. Definitely the best recording device out there. I recommend this to anyone who wants to record their gameplay and wants the best video quality mixed with the most convenient recording software.
